Mr. Bryan and Mrs. Jennings are continuing to make parent phone calls today and possibly tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, as we have been working to identify the most recent, accurate guidance relevant to opening school for the 2020-2021 school year. We appreciate the guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Public Health, Hancock County Department of Public Health and Regional Office of Education #26. As of today (7/16/2020), we plan to open school for in-person instruction as scheduled, with the first day of student attendance being August 20, 2020. The following safety guidelines will be in place, as put forth by ISBE, IDPH, Hancock County Health Department, and ROE #26. Children, parents, teachers and all employees in a school district will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including face coverings; No more than 50 individuals can gather in one space at a time; Appropriate person-to-person social distancing is required, as much and often as possible; Schools will be required to conduct COVID-19 symptom screenings and administer temperature checks for students, teachers, and staff, or require that individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings; and School staff will be required to increase and modify building-wide cleaning and disinfection methods. In addition to these guidelines, we will also be offering remote learning for families who prefer that option. While we know that nothing can replace in-person instruction, we will do our best to support those who choose remote learning during this time. Our building principals, Mrs. Jennings and Mr. Bryan, will be reaching out by telephone today and tomorrow to speak with each family about their preferences for in-person or remote learning. As the current crisis is very dynamic, things may change between now and the start of school. It will be our goal to respond quickly to those changes and keep our students and families updated.
